Sacred Voices
Sacred Voices brings together two universally acclaimed talents, Tunisian vocalist and oud player Dhafer Youssef and Estonian choir Vox Clamantis. This work focuses on the pure sound of the human voice, drawing on the contrasting spiritual vocal traditions of Gregorian chant and Sufi but reaching beyond these to create a magical new choral sound.
Orchestral works
Over the past 2 years Dhafer has started arranging and writing works with string and symphony orchestras including Britten Sinfonia and Tonkunstler.
New Quartet
Returning to a more acoustic jazz format, Dhafer’s new quartet Abu Nawas will be released on Jazzland in March 2010
