Norwegian Christmas Concert
In the beautiful setting of St Martin in the Fields, the Royal Norwegian Embassy’s annual Christmas concert celebrates the creativity and talent of their folk and jazz artists. This year sees Nils Økland Ensemble – a quintet brought together especially for the event - and a duo of Ketil Bjørnstad with Röyksopp guest vocalist Anneli Drecker.
This concert sees this attitude expressed eloquently with the ancient sound of Nils Økland’s hardanger fiddle and the celestial voice of Åsne Valland Nordli performing contemporary and traditional folk music. Nils has captured the plaintive quality of the Fjord’s folk music, the distinctive harmonies of the Hardanger’s resonating strings and created music that whilst contemporary, feels absolutely rooted in the untamed landscape of his country.
