Merry Christmas
We’ve had a great 2009 here at sounduk. Highlights include producing some really imaginative live projects inside and outside the concert hall.
For Songs From a Lost Piano we co-commissioned the eccentric and brilliant pianist Matthew Bourne to bring six of Yorkshire’s discarded pianos back to life for three haunting performances and an evocative photographic exhibition.
Fertilizer stepped up a gear or three bringing over good s*** from Poland for a 7 day London festival, UK-Poland collaboration, music forum, films and Sound Postcards exhibition plus the first ever Fertilizer UK tour as part of Polska Year.
We took to the water in the autumn with Canal Music, a site specific commission with new music by Lisa Knapp and Leafcutter John inspired by the Grand Union Canal performed aboard the Chiswick narrow boat at six canal side settings.
2009 also saw the first UK tour by Brooklyn based percussionist composer Lukas Ligeti and a new sound installation by Terje Isungset working with Lumen in Leeds.
sounduk continues to work with some of the most inspiring artists and organizations as our clients. As programme producer for Bath International Music Festivalwe witnessed the first opera in the Roman Baths and brought over the legendary Dr Ralph Stanley.
PR clients included Sound and Music, the landmark new organisation for new music and sound plus the final No Music Day which the whole city of Linz observed.
