“Jason gave the perfect performance.” Brian Eno
Moonscales is an immersive audio-visual installation by sound artist Jason Singh, consisting of eight spatialised soundscapes set around a suspended replica of the moon, utilising the 360 d&b Soundscape system at Kings Place.
Representing the eight lunar cycles of the moon, each soundscape has been created using bio data from a ring of Ash trees (now deceased due to Ash dieback disease), field recordings of wildlife, aquatic environments, vocal textures, analogue and digital effects and processing.
The immersive experience aims to share a holistic awareness of the climate crisis through compositions derived from living organisms. And to explore the life cycles of human movement, nature transformation and change, through contemplation and deep listening.
This event will last approximately 40 minutes. You will be welcome to move around the room during the installation and there will be a mixture of chairs and beanbags for seating.
Moonscales was originally commissioned by WOMAD Festival.
